I started out knowing absolutely nothing about chrochet and I was able to make this little guy on my first try. It came out exactly how it was supposed to. I gifted it to a friend. I did watch one youtube tutorial on the basics of chrochet for absolute beginners and that may have helped some. At first I was really overwhelmed looking at the pattern but I told myself what's the worst that could happen? I have to undo some stitches? After that I had a lot more confidence going in. By the end I felt really comfortable reading and understanding the pattern. I did find on the website provided that there are videos you can follow along with if thats more your speed. This kit totally exceeded my expectations, the yarn quality is amazing and the perfect yarn for beginners to work with while still giving a nice look to the finished product. The colors were accurate to the product photos, the booklets provided all of the information you needed and references for all of the lingo. It came with 3 stitch markers those things were a life saver. It also came with a quality metal needle, chrochet hook, and a plastic needle. There was plenty of all the materials, all packed in a neat little box. They do provide the first round started for you which honestly helped me feel less overwhelmed in the beginning. But you also have to learn how to do that starting "magic ring" later in the pattern, by that point you have a better understanding of how crochet works. This would be a really great gift. I was recently in the hospital for almost 2 weeks and something like this would have been amazing to have to pass the time. I feel confident that thanks to this little kit I will continue to chrochet with way more knowledge than I started with. I had so much fun and it was really relaxing. I think I may have found my new favorite hobby. For everything invluded, this is a great deal

This Cthulhu was my first ever crochet attempt at anything. Literally never tried it before in my life. I know everyone else in reviews said Cthulhu was beyond beginner and y'all warned us but my brain said I was up for the challenge. Yes it came out crazy. But if you don't look too closely, it's passable. Yes sometimes it was very confusing for a newb like me. I made AI make the wings part make sense for me bc I just couldn't understand the instructions and had no reference image. I had to look at what everyone else did for the wings on here, which were immaculate and I couldn't recreate with my limited knowledge. So on mine, one wing was grok influenced (our right looking at its back) and the other wing was chatgpt influenced (our left looking at its back) and when those were goofing up in practice, I just winged it. That's why they both look totally different. the kit itself was great and I had no issues with any of the materials. now it sits on my nightstand collecting cat hair and I say good night to it every day. I did have a lot of fun and will be continuing my crochet journey. This would definitely be best suited for someone who's done a few different types of crochet projects. I also liked the price of this when I got it, the wobbles ones were beyond expensive and other kits appeared to be not worth it to me.

I am not a rank-beginner with crochet, but I ran across a couple issues with the Mothman kit. He is adorable, but the instructions have some mistakes that I think would be confusing for beginners. The biggest issue is with the ears. If you make the ears per the instructions, they come out like stubby bear ears and do not look like the ears on the example. I ended up adding additional rows to the ears to get them long enough to resemble to look on the box. Wing instructions are a bit difficult and there instructions for the feet list avocado green & army green for the colors instead of gray and black. He is cute, but if you can't modify patterns on your own maybe start with another kit.

Turned out so cool not perfect but I tried. Instructions were not always clear (better than most) but I figured it out mostly. Also made raccon however raccoons nose broke off and had to sew it on was not happy!

I am actually confused as to how to rate this. It looks just adorable. But the tutorial is so hard for us to follow we can’t get the thing started so I don’t know how it would look if we could actually make the thing. Maybe people who have done crochet before would have more luck. It is advertised as good for beginners and good for all ages but my kids are just incredibly frustrated.

This was a great kit. I'm not a novice, but I would consider myself still a beginner. The instructions were clear and he was easy to make. He turned out very well.

There are several errors in the pattern including the wrong colors being written for the leg and wrong stitch counts. The yarn is really similar to woobles yarn which is nice to work with.
